Thank You and Goodbye!

Dear Readers,

Wow, what a year! Heartfelt congratulations to all of the learners in Readeville for creating and contributing to our learning community. It’s wonderful to think about the children who walked through the doors on day one of year two and how much progress they have made throughout 2017.

A massive thank you to all of the parents and grandparents from Room 22, Room 23 and Room 24 for your ongoing support.

Just a few housekeeping points:

* Here is a photo of a note that we sent home today about ’51 Things To Do Before You’re 12′. We hope these ideas inspire you if you are looking for things to do during the summer holidays:

* Today the children also took home an A3 plastic folder with some of their learning from this year.

* Don’t forget, school dismissal time tomorrow (Friday) is 2:10pm.

We have so enjoyed teaching the children in Readeville this year. We wish you a safe and happy festive season and look forward to seeing you around the school in years to come.

Kind regards,

Marie, Nancy, Michelle and Rachel

That’s Entertainment!

Dear Readers,

We really don’t have the words to express how impressed we were with our performers at the school concert last night. The children from Room 23 and Room 24 blew us away with their singing, dance moves and stellar stage presence. What a great showcase for risk-taking, communicating and the sheer joy that comes from nailing a performance you have spent so much time and effort preparing. Room 23 and Room 24, we salute you! Here are some photo highlights:

Class Party and the Movies:

Just a reminder that our class party and movie excursion to Paddington 2 are both being held this coming Monday (December 11).

Class Party: The children won’t need to bring lunch on Monday and we need only small plates of food. Please come along between 12:00 and 1pm to celebrate and help out if you are able.

Movies: Children can wear casual clothes (including PJs or tracksuits) to the movies. Please don’t send along any food, drinks, money, phones or electronic toys with your child (we will supply a fruit-box and small bag of chips). Children can bring a soft toy or comfort blanket if they would like to. The venue for the movie is Wallis Cinemas, Mitcham Square, 119 Belair Road, Torrens Park. Drop-off time is 5:45pm and pick-up time is 8pm. Children MUST be signed in and signed out by a parent/carer.

We have been so impressed with Readeville’s learning and community spirit this year and we are really looking forward to these end-of-year celebrations.

Finally, please send along a sturdy plastic bag next week so that your child can use it to carry home their school books from this year.

Thanks and regards,

Rachel and Michelle

Concert Update

Dear Readers,

Just a note to let you know that at this stage our school concert is still scheduled to go ahead this evening. The forecast is for the rain to clear. We will post an update to this blog if these plans change.

Also, due to the rain that we have had so far today, we would greatly appreciate donations of mats/rugs/tarpaulins for the children to sit on tonight if possible please.

Thanks for your help!

Rachel and Michelle

School Concert, Class Party and the Movies

Dear Readers,

Here are some reminders about the busy week ahead:

  1. School Concert: We ask that children come to their class in costume at 6:15 this Thursday night. We need to be ready backstage by 6:25, because we are the second act to perform. If you really can’t find a bow-tie, please let your child’s teacher know BY WEDNESDAY, because we do have a handful of spare ties (the cost is $2 each). After the concert, children need to be signed out by a parent/carer. Children will wait with their teacher near the audio equipment until they’re collected. Please note, children are expected to stay for the entire concert, so you may want to send along a jumper for them to wear after they come off stage. Children are also welcome to bring a blanket to sit on during the show.
  2. Class Party: A reminder that the Readeville class party will be held from 12:00-1:00 on Monday, December 11 (week nine). Please note, children will not need to bring lunch for the day. We have asked that girls bring a SMALL PLATE of something sweet to share and that boys bring a SMALL PLATE of something savoury to share. Donations of paper plates and serviettes will be gratefully received. Please let your child’s classroom teacher know if you are able to help out on the day.
  3. Cinema Excursion: A friendly reminder that all payments and consent forms for our excursion to see Paddington 2 on Monday, December 11 were due today. Please return consent forms and payment ASAP if you have not done so already. Thank you to parents who offered to be volunteers on the night. Our two volunteers for Room 24 are Hayley (Alannah’s mum) and Christine (Cody’s mum). Please note, it will not be possible for parents to come to the movies ‘just in case’ their child becomes anxious or upset. If children do become particularly distressed, teachers will contact parents to come to collect them. We thank you for your understanding and support.

As always, please see us if you have any queries.

Kind regards,

Rachel and Michelle
