Our New Home

Dear Readers,

Well done to the citizens of Readeville for the smooth move into their new home. The children have done a fantastic job of settling into the Doolette building. Thank you for your support and understanding, too, during the building renovations.

The children are still working away, even though the end of the year is creeping up. You may want to ask your child about Pigeon Impossible, one of the ‘quick writes’ that we have been doing to help practise generating ideas. Here is a link to the video that we watched for our inspiration:

In maths, we have been exploring how addition and subtraction ‘undo’ each other. And in health we have been continuing our work on safe and unsafe secrets.

Please check your child’s reading folder for the notes below regarding end of year celebrations.

See you next week!

Rachel and Michelle

On The Move

Dear Readers,

There has been a lot of activity in Readeville during the past few days as we prepare to move over to the Doolette building as part of major renovations to the Reade building. Here is some important information about the move:

  1. Rooms 22, 23 and 24 will be taught in the Doolette building from Monday (November 20) until the end of the year. Here are two letters about the move that have come home this week. Please note the information in the second letter about where children will line up with their classes in the Doolette building:

Our teaching programs will continue as normal (including usual days and times for PE, ART etc) once we are in the Doolette building. The children are excited about the move and have done a fabulous job of helping to pack things up.

There is also essential information in one of the letters about a child in the Doolette building with a severe egg allergy. This allergy is potentially life-threatening, so it is vital that children from Reade do not bring food with egg in it to school when they are in the Doolette building. If you are unsure about suitable food, please talk to us.

  2. If you haven’t seen it, here is a note about our  end-of-year concert on Thursday 7th December. We have also attached the lyrics to Let Me Entertain You, FYI.
  3. Please note, our regular learning programs will continue when we move to the Doolette building. We are aiming to finish the year with as little disruption as possible.
  4. School readers: All readers need to be returned by the end of week seven (Friday, December 1) at the latest please. We will be looking for parent helpers during week eight to help us sort through our reader collection for the end of the year and ready for next year. We will continue reading in class and we encourage you to also access readers for your child via the Oxford Owl website (log-in cards were sent home recently). These readers are a brilliant resource. Library books are also due back by the end of week seven at the latest. We will still be borrowing from the library in week six.
  5. Movie night – save the date: We are planning a movie night as an end-of-year celebration for Readeville on Monday, December 11 (week nine). Watch this space for more information.

Thank you for your support during our move and for all that you do to help the citizens of Readeville!

Kind regards,

Rachel and Michelle
